SUFFER LITTLE CHILDREN TO COME UNTO ME

By Loren Adams, 08.10.2014

The contradiction could not be more distinct. Jesus welcoming little children to be fed, clothed, comforted and housed. Republican rightwing “Christians” rejecting thousands of needy children, demanding deportation without even essential provisions – in direct violation of the law signed by George W. Bush in 2008. But, more importantly, in direct violation of Jesus’ precepts.

The so-called “Christian” religious right is the driving...

GET RID OF THE UNIONS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS

By Loren Adams, 07.13.2014

Imagine what life would be without unions. To arrive at an accurate portrayal, go back in time when unions didn’t exist… back to the Dark Ages and feudalism, back to slavery, indentured servants, castles surrounded by paupers’ villages of thatched-roof shanties. Back to the days Republicans would love to drive this nation.

Yes, picture what it would be for you to live without a union. It’s a journey you’ll never forget.

DEMOGRAPHICS IS ONLY A DREAM

By Loren Adams, 6.08.14

The Democratic Party bases its vision of the future on demographics while Republicans mount a proactive, preemptive strike by instituting voter suppression (voter ID, eliminating days/hours for voting, “consolidating” polling places to tip the scales in favor of their core constituents, the wealthy). It’s the same old story: Cheaters win if guardians fail.

Meanwhile, Mid-term 2014 fast approaches. Is the Democratic leadership ready to lose big-time like 2010? ...

RUSSIANS or REPUBLICANS

by Loren Adams, 5.11.14

In the wildly popular NETFLIX series, House of Cards, President Garrett Walker is fraudulently persuaded to invite Francis Underwood as his Vice-President after conveniently dismissing his initial running mate, Jim Matthews. Of course, Frank Underwood (played by Kevin Spacey) is the lead-character: a deceitful, villainous politician willing to commit murder twice for power.

AMERICA’S EMERGING OLIGARCHY

by Loren Adams, 4.13.14

Republican talking points are replete with the phrase “job creators.” These two words are meant to describe Republican oligarchs that supposedly allow their wealth to “trickle down” to the starving masses, like a mother hen feeding worms to her chicks – which are totally dependent on the mother’s instincts and are unable to fend for themselves.

Such is the picture Rove, Luntz and other key party operatives would like to implant on America’s brains.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind

By Loren Adams, 03.09.14

The two major parties seem to focus their attention toward opposite poles. Each movement’s pet peeves are primarily all that remain. America is beset by the disease of polarization. The topics of obsession are same-sex rights, abortion, guns, restrictive voting, tiny taxes for the rich, and union-busting – all of which divert attention from a nation still reeling from the 2008 Great Recession. It’s the economy, stupid!

As a consequence of these trendy, entrenched ideologies, the two are afflicted with tunnel vision to the degree they are incapable (or unwilling) to serve the common good. The result is a nation panicked by the sense of being lost – wandering aimlessly in the wilderness without a compass, deprived of confidence in reaching a desirable destination, the “American Dream” extinguished. Without vision, the people perish. Out of sight, out of mind, the culture seems to have lost its balance.
